A Brief History

As demonstrated by the mounted striped bass and 10-inch monster blue crabs decorating its walls, Waterman’s Crab House Restaurant and Dock Bar is a throwback to the days when Rock Hall was a watermen’s town. Local fishermen still ply the Chesapeake and its tributaries to provide the restaurant with fresh stripers, crabs and other seafood.

The restaurant opened as a one-room dining area 40 years ago, but can now seat more than 600 diners, including 450 on a deck that overlooks the bay. The diverse menu offers plenty of surf-and-turf combos and is known for its crab cakes, steamed crabs and baby back ribs. All you-can-eat crab feast of steamed crabs, along with a half-pound of steamed shrimp, corn, cole slaw and a cup of Maryland crab soup is available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Catch a trolley through the laid back town, or dock your boat at one of the 30 boat slips.
